A look inside the book: Fateful Ops
They accelerated and switched lanes to pull up along side the bus. I kept pace as they accelerated to 130 kilometers per hour (about the same as 80 miles per hour in the States). The side windows on the car were coming down and I could see the rifles getting put into position. My mind was racing faster then we were traveling. What was I to do? Watch the slaughter take place? I was unarmed. What could I do? “You fuckers just made the list.”
From this point on, everything shifted into slow motion in my mind. Memory took me back to my police academy days and the driving tactics we had been learning. I gunned my engine and pulled up to the left side of their vehicle just behind the rear passenger door. They were concentrated on the right side getting ready to take out a bunch of unsuspecting Americans. It was time to put a driving tactic to work.
I never really performed this maneuver before other than in practice and certainly not at this speed. It was the PIT Maneuver. Pursuit Intervention Technique. I slowly put my right bumper into the left rear quarter panel of the bad guy’s car. Just like clock work and the results were just like in the academy. Their car turned sideways and went right around the front of my car. As the bus continued with me along side it, I watched the bad guys spin out of control. As the car left the roadway it began to roll over. On the second roll the car went up in a huge explosion. There had to have been explosives in that car along with the small arms they were carrying. Cars in general just don’t blow up like that except in the movies. Goods guys 3, bad guys zip.
